Favorite Thrift Stores in DFW

6:51 AM

Saving your coins and our planet has become increasingly popular as of late. Before it was a “trend” some of us were hitting the racks regularly. The truth is, I didn’t choose this thrift life; the thrift life chose me! Ha-ha!

By default, I’ve become a self-proclaimed thrift expert and I strongly believe thrifting can be a catalyst to a thriving lifestyle. Looking good never ever has to bust your bank account, neither should your individuality. I love being able to express my personal style using thrifted garb.

Okay so, DFW is filled with over 50+ thrift shops, Resale, Consignment; and Vintage stores combined, and while I will not be sharing every store location today, I will over a span of time try to share the world of secondhand shops across the Dallas-Fort Worth area as I visit them!

I receive tons of questions from you guys, but the most asked question is about which thrift stores are best to visit. I want to share a few thrift stores I’ve personally visited and swear by.

Haltom Thrift Store – Fort Worth
3848 Alatamesa Blvd. Fort Worth, Tx 76133
Monday – Saturday from 8am – 8pm;
Sundays 11am -7pm

MY REVIEW:  Medium sized store with a small women’s clothing selection. Other departments include Men’s, Kids, Shoes, Books, Décor, and Accessories.
They are typically organized by size and color. As for prices, I’d say reasonable prices! I’d recommend this place for Poshmarkers. During my visit they, I came across high end brands in good condition.

The Salvation Army–Lewisville
602 E. Round Grove Road.
Lewisville, TX 75057
Hours Monday- Saturday from 10am- 8pm

MY REVIEW: 30,000-square-foot building will have 22,000 square feet of resell space, making it the largest Salvation Army Family Store in the DFW Metroplex. I visited the store during their grand opening back in October. Departments include men’s clothing, women’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes, furniture, electronics, housewares, home goods, books and sporting goods.
The store set up is like a color
coordinated department store! So many gems to explore easily. I found these suede green pumps. This store location serves as a donation drop off and processing center so that means you will have tons of selection options!
Because of the huge space, well organized, a huge selection of quality items, spacious dressing room with a three-way mirror, I’d say this is overall one of my favorite places to visit.

Family Thrift Outlet- Plano
2430 K. Ave. Plano, TX 75074
Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday 9am -9pm
Wednesday 9am -11:30am – they close early for restocking
Thursday 7am -9pm
Sunday noon- 6pm

MY REVIEW: I’m excited that Family Thrift relocated its outlet store to the Plano location! While the Plano location was already a fav, I think this was a great move as the Fort Worth location sort of went downhill in quality. For all my poshmark resellers, this is your place. Vintage lovers too! I love that this location has a variety of thrifted treasures. Departments include men’s clothing, women’s clothing, children’s clothing, accessories & shoes.  Each Thursday, new inventory comes in and all items are priced at just $2.00.  On Fridays, prices drop a quarter to $1.75 an item.  Then, each day after that, the price drops another 25 cents until Tuesdays, when prices drop to just 50 cents an item.  Prices drop another 25 cents on Wednesdays, when every item in the Outlet store costs only 25 cents!  Come on Ladies, this is bargain thrifting at it’s best.

Thrift Giant – Denton, TX
1701 Brinker Rd, Denton, TX 76208
Monday – Saturday 9am -8pm; Sundays 11am -7pm

MY REVIEW: While hitting the racks at any Thrift Giant is sure fiya way to get some head turning threads, this location easily became one of my favs. I believe they have the best prices for secondhand garb. More than ever, I have begun to focus on thrift stores that are socially responsible, supporting the communities as well as becoming more transparent about their efforts to reduce textile waste. Here is a link the resale store has on its website to share with customers. Thrift Giant is known for its large selection to choose from. I have never walked out of a “Thrift Giant” empty handed. I stumbled into this location after waiting on a friend for lunch meet up. The departments include men’s clothing, women’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes, electronics, housewares, home goods, and books.

Texas Thrift – Irving Texas
3113 N Belt Line Rd, Irving, TX 75062
Monday – Saturday 9am – 9pm; Sundays 12-6pm

MY REVIEW: It’s no surprise Texas thrift is my boo thang of thrift stores. I said earlier last week, I think it’s because the store is in my back yard (less than 5 miles from my place) and has a huge selection of unique items. I have hosted a few fashion fun events at this location as well! When it comes to prices I normally get the best bang for my bucks during holiday sales & special discounts within the store. Departments include men’s clothing, women’s clothing, children’s clothing, shoes, furniture, electronics, housewares, home goods, kids toys & books.

Goodwill - N. Shiloh Rd.
3106 N. Shiloh Rd.
Garland, Texas, 75044
Monday – Saturday

MY REVIEW: I love Goodwill’s mission, I love that they are the front runners of impacting change within the community and our planet. Here is a little history for you. I couldn’t leave them off the fav list. A lot of folks say the prices are a bit on the high end, like Texas Thrift, but I take advantage of holiday sale deals, and focus mostly on 50% off items. You get the most bang for your buck if you are into maximize savings. Some of my most favorite thrifted finds ever have come from this Goodwill. I like this location because I always find unique vintage items. Always.

Balch Springs Thrift Store – Balch Springs
3527 Shepherd Ln,
Balch Springs, TX 75180
Monday- Saturday 9am -8pm; Sundays 11am-6pm

MY REVIEW: That’s right Balch Springs, Texas! This thrift shop is one of my hidden gems that I’ve secretly been holding out on ya’ll for a minute now!  I feel like it’s time I share with you the best kept secret of vintage gems. I thrifted a vintage velvet royal blue 80s evening dress that has for me gone down in history as the coolest vintage find to date!  The prices are reasonable, and the customer service is my type of hype. You are welcome in advance. Mmkay?
