We are gearing up for the next Thrift inStyle Tour in October! The girls and I have chosen 3 of the most visited thrift stores in Dallas. Tickets will go on sale September 1st and will have limited seating to accommodate this exclusive experience. Your ticket gives you access to brunch, network, receiving thrift styling techniques, light refreshments, and a fashionably frugal tote filled with goodies.
This Tour just gets bigger and better. We even have some of Dallas' Fashion/ Thrift Bloggers joining us! Also I will be giving away a free admission ticket in September so stay connected by getting updates sent directly to your email.
As a single parent I at one point assumed I had to do
life alone until I came across Single Parent Advocate. I originally wanted to find
college scholarship opportunities for single parents and stumbled across SPA
online. My first inquiry was a lengthy one... in addition to scholarship
resources I wanted to volunteer. I wanted to help bring hope by utilizing my
talent to further the cause. At the time I also had to choose an ideal
platform for an upcoming pageant I decided to enter. The Founder Stacy Martin (which is now like my big sister) responded back promptly and the rest was history.
The
mission is more than about assisting families with school supplies, the staff and
founder have become more like family to Leighton and I. Within the last year,
SPA’s impact has grew increasingly higher than ever before in terms of supporting single
parent families. With over 13 events throughout the year that
show love and inspires hope to families, Single Parent Advocate makes doing
life a bit more tranquil. This is only the beginning I believe. The more
dedication, donations, volunteers and sponsors get involved the more families
will experience hope. So although there are tons of non-profit organizations out
there I support the mission to provide true hope and real help. I stand with
other single parents who are seeking to be the best they can be for their family’s
sake with the support of Single Parent Advocate!
With lots of love,

This colorful, overly eccentric vintage store totally surpassed my expectations….
Looking for unique vintage garb is like finding pure gold when hunting the racks at your typical Thrift Store, but Dolly Python was not a thrift store and the originality and ambiance took you back in time! The gold was clearly at your fingertips!
My gal pal Prescilla and I stopped by only minutes before closing to check out the layout for the upcoming thrift tour. I wanted to meet the team (which were very excited about the tour and informative), check out the collection, and run through the ideal stop. From vintage antique brooches to 30's era decor, a girl who adore vintage would go bonkers in there! The jewelry was one of a kind. If you are into cowboy boots they have a vast selection of styles that really bring out the best of the Texas culture. I was definitely impress.
Overall I'd say if you really love vintage items, "Dolly Python has Tons of Vintage Garb for really fair prices". I can not wait to head back in on June 20th to really shop the racks and maybe do a vintage haul of my #favfinds. I've collecting a few authentic vintage pieces over the years that were not my size or style. I kind of became a hoarder. Shhhh.. Dolly Python actually buys your vintage items so I will be selling my vintage pieces or maybe exchanging them for some new to me garb! Exciting! Stay connect & get updates on the the next thrift tour and outings by heading over to ThriftinStyle blog and subscribe!
I'd love to see some of your vintage garb from Dolly Python so tag me on Instagram at @thriftinstyledfw and hashtag #thriftinstyle.

My Latest Outreach Project
This month I decided to end it with a recap of a project I believe is a positive step towards social change in the world. Small, but successful. I'm sure you know I have a huge heart for single parents in general, but this year I wanted to really impact my community by focusing on one particular area.
Studies show that although the Teen pregnancy rate has decreased since 2010, teen pregnancy in Texas has grown to reflect economic challenges in low poverty areas. Teens are not finishing High School and living on government assistance.
I believe together we can live positive and fashionably meaningful lives that will create positive change in our society. Creating outreach projects, advocating, and working as a Liaison for the economically distressed allows me the opportunity to be the change I really want to see in our communities and for women and young mothers. I also strongly believe if we stunt growth of teen pregnancy by educating the masses on the value of self value in a society that glamorizes beauty and sex, we can empower spiritual growth and self ambition. This will also cultivate a new standard of beauty. A standard in the millennial that is often hidden behind worldly validation and lack of Godly confidence.

I want to support "striving to thrive" teen moms, educate young women on the importance of teen pregnancy prevention and self worth, as well as advocate for Teen Moms. On April 9, 2015 some of my favorite people and I, hosted a Live Prom Primp Day for teen moms in the Irving ISD.
We garnered formal gowns, shoes, accessories donations and whole a lot of love to shower teen moms who are staying the course to finishing High School with the opportunity to attend one of their High School milestones. The smiles and gratitude from the young women gave me so much peace. Below are a few moments captured from the day. This is not the last you will hear of this project!
Okay so I haven't posted since last year. #lazybloggersyndrome I have been making strides to finding my ultimate purpose in life. I've found my favorite outlet which is Facebook www.facebook.com/tiyunnajohnson.
I find it easier and less intimidating than blogging. ERRGGHH...
